Dr. Zhao Hui Koh (‘Dr Zhao’) is a multilingual, LGBTQIA+ friendly provisional psychologist who has a strong interest working with the culturally and linguistically diverse population (CALD). Dr Zhao has completed all of his supervised placement hours and will be commencing his registrar program shortly, with a focus on working with individuals, couples and families. He has experience working with people who experience anxiety- and mood-related disorders, adjustment disorder and acute psychological distress arising from situational crises. Dr Zhao is trained in delivering evidence-based interventions and person-centred care through collaborative therapeutic relationships with clients. Dr Zhao uses a strength-based approach, respecting and honouring clients’ agency, and striving to help people achieve their full potential by utilising his sensitivity, patience, inquisitive nature and problem-solving skills.
Dr Zhao’s therapeutic work is primarily informed by third-wave cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), including aspects of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). He is also experienced in solution-focused therapy (SFT) and familiar with elements of Motivational Interviewing (MI). He is trained to conduct various psychological, cognitive and personality assessments, including MINI, WAIS-IV, WMS-IV, WISC-V, WIAT-III and MMPI-3.
